Holiday Sales Forecast 2026: What Adobe’s $275B Prediction Means for Your Store
4 min read
Adobe expects US shoppers to spend a record $275.1 billion online between 1 November and 31 December 2026. That is 6.7% more than last year. This holiday sales forecast 2026 also shows where the money will go: phones, AI-referred visits, instalment payments and two very big days.
Here is what the numbers mean for your store, and what to do about them in the next five weeks.

The holiday sales forecast 2026 in numbers
Adobe bases its forecast on more than 1 trillion visits to US retail sites and 100 million products (Adobe). Here are the headline figures.
| Period | Forecast online spend | Change vs 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Full season (1 Nov–31 Dec) | $275.1B | +6.7% |
| Cyber Week (Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday) | $47.5B | +7.4% |
| Cyber Monday (30 Nov) | $15.1B | +6.2% |
| Black Friday (27 Nov) | $12.9B | +9.2% |
| Thanksgiving (26 Nov) | $6.9B | +8.5% |
In other words, Cyber Week alone should bring in about 17% of the whole season. Cyber Monday stays the biggest day, and it should become the first single day above $15 billion. However, Black Friday is growing faster.
Holiday sales forecast 2026: mobile takes the lead
Adobe expects 57.4% of holiday spend to happen on phones, up from 56.4% last year. So for most stores, the mobile checkout is now the main checkout.
That matters most at peak. When traffic spikes, a slow mobile page or a fiddly payment form costs real sales. In fact, small delays add up quickly when thousands of shoppers hit the same page.
AI assistants are sending real shoppers
Visits from AI tools are the fastest-growing source of traffic this season. Adobe forecasts that clicks from generative AI to US retail sites will rise 130% year on year. On Thanksgiving, the jump could reach 159%.
These shoppers also tend to buy with confidence. In Adobe’s July 2026 survey of 5,000 consumers, 77% of AI shoppers said they felt more confident in their purchases. Meanwhile, 69% said they were less likely to return items bought with AI help.
As a result, clean product data now matters as much as ads. We explain how Google lets shoppers buy inside its AI answers in our guide to Google AI Mode checkout.
Buy now, pay later keeps growing
Adobe expects shoppers to spend $21.3 billion through buy now, pay later (BNPL) in November and December, up 6.6%. On Cyber Monday alone, BNPL spend should pass $1 billion for the second year in a row.
Even more telling, Adobe expects shoppers to make 82% of BNPL purchases on mobile. So if you offer instalments, make sure the option is easy to find on a small screen.
Where the discounts will peak
Discounts should peak at up to 30% off during Cyber Week. Electronics and toys lead, while furniture and appliances stay lower.

The best deal days also differ by category. For example, electronics and computers should peak on Cyber Monday. By contrast, TVs, toys, apparel, appliances and furniture should peak on Black Friday.
What this holiday sales forecast 2026 means for your store
You cannot change the market, but you can be ready for it. Here are five practical moves.
- Make mobile checkout fast. First, test the full purchase on a mid-range phone, then remove any step that is not essential.
- Show payment options early. Next, display wallets and BNPL on product pages, not only at the last step.
- Clean your product feed. Then fix prices, stock and shipping data, since AI tools and Google read them directly.
- Plan for two peaks. After that, staff and scale for both Black Friday and Cyber Monday, not one big day.
- Back social and partners. Finally, Adobe expects social media’s share of revenue to rise 17%, and affiliates’ share to rise 12%.

Does the forecast apply outside the US?
Adobe’s figures cover US retail sites only. So if you sell in the UAE, India or Europe, treat them as a direction rather than a target.
Still, the three big shifts in the holiday sales forecast 2026 are worth planning for in any market. Those are mobile-first shopping, AI-led discovery and instalment payments.
